Tycho: Facilitation Support for Groupware User Tests
نویسندگان
چکیده
Running user tests for groupware requires tracking the progress of multiple users performing co-dependent tasks, while facilitating and observing their coordinated actions. This requirement negatively impacts main objective testing, which is detecting usability flaws. User testing becomes more challenging when run remotely. Even if there are tools remote that can get job done a single user, they not prepared collaborative scenarios. In this paper we argue tool support facilitation missing. Consequently, propose method with assistance makes it possible to automate task synchronization, especially different workflows must be concurrently. We evaluated our proposal by comparing manually facilitated approach during on-site tests. The results indicate that, designing running takes time, allows testers better focus on problems.

The Tycho User Interface System
Tycho is the next-generation user-interface system we are building for the Ptolemy project. It is a complete [incr Tcl] application structured as an extensible class library. Our goal is to make it easy to extend this basic application with functionality and a user interface for specialized applications such as electronic design and simulation. The Tycho library includes a selection of general-...
متن کاملUser Interface Plasticity for Groupware
Plastic user interfaces are intentionally developed to automatically adapt themselves to changes in the user’s working context. Although some Web single-user interactive systems already integrate some plastic capabilities, this research topic remains quasi-unexplored in the domain of Computer Supported Cooperative Work. This paper is centered on prototyping a plastic collaborative whiteboard, w...
متن کاملGroupware: User Experiences
The first mention of group support systems occurred fifteen years ago at the HICSS Conference. Since then teams of researchers have pioneered developments in groupware that dramatically improved group processes. These innovations have been applied in hundreds of organizations, demonstrating the benefits of improved group performance. The technological advances gained through years of research a...
متن کاملTransparent Latecomer Support for Synchronous Groupware
In a collaborative session users may join and leave. A user who joins a session is called a latecomer. A latecomer needs the current state of the collaborative session to participate in the session. There exist different approaches to accommodate a latecomer. The runtime system can, e.g., transfer the state to the latecomer or replay how the session state was reached. If the state is maintained...
متن کاملGroupware Support for Software Requirements Inspection
The inspection of software products has proven to be an effective approach to find defects. Inspecting requirements documents offers especially large benefits as it removes defects very early in the development process. On the other hand inspection is also an expensive and sometimes cumbersome process resulting in a large amount of inspection material that has to be sorted, searched, and consol...
